Digital Technologies with iPad: Kindergarten to Year 2
Co-authored with Sian Bakewell.
This book represents some of the work the K-2 teachers at Piara Waters Primary School undertook over six months as we unpacked the Digital Technologies curriculum. The collection of lessons we have created are developmentally appropriate, delivered through explicit teaching and show cross-curricular links with the other Western Australian Curriculum core subject areas. They are written using the iSTAR framework which is used across our school.
There are links to good quality children’s literature and an emphasis on teaching new subject specific vocabulary. We utilised the technology we have, which includes iPads as our school devices, unplugged resources and MakeBlock mTiny robots. You can transfer the learnings in this book to your own context and the resources you have at hand.
This is not an exhaustive list of all outcomes from the curriculum, rather a snapshot of practice to help get you started. We hope this book enhances your Digital Technologies teaching and learning program as it has done for us!
